They process large volumes of samples from across the country, using high-throughput technology to deliver rapid test results. Staffed by scientists, lab technicians, and support personnel, Lighthouse Labs played a critical role during the pandemic by supporting the national testing and genomic surveillance efforts. Their work helped inform public health decisions and contributed to the understanding of the virus’s spread.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lighthouse laboratory technician?

To excel as a Lighthouse Laboratory Technician, you need a solid background in laboratory science, attention to detail, and a relevant degree such as biology or chemistry. Familiarity with PCR machines, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and adherence to safety protocols is essential. Effective teamwork, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies ensure accurate, efficient processing of high-throughput diagnostic tests, which is critical for public health outcomes.
