Position Overview:

First of three levels of manufacturing operator job classifications.  As a member of a production team, responsibilities are to perform repetitive, relatively simple assembly, packaging, light mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly work of low complexity.  Work from samples or assembly drawings following close direction and supervision.    


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble parts or components according to written, and/or verbal instructions.
  • Utilize hand tools and fixtures to perform processes.
  • Package completed products for delivery to finished goods.
  • Responsible for quality of work with ability to check own work.
  • Perform routine cleanup and maintenance within the manufacturing department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED 
  • Preferred Experience:  1-2 years of experience


Competencies and Skills: 

  • Basic English skills required.
  • Basic math and comparison skills required.
  • Must have great attention to detail and accuracy.  
  • Ability to follow verbal and written assembly instructions.
  • Must have demonstrated teamwork and communication skills.  
  • Positive interpersonal skills w/ability to communicate effectively & project a positive image.
  • Observe established safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime when required. 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to see and handle small parts
  • Continuous mental and/or visual attention is required
  • Typical production/warehouse environment w/varying temperatures
  • Ability to work overtime

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Exposure to plant environment, with fork lift and other general hazards.
