Shift: Monday-Friday 6:30am-8:30am 3:00pm-5:00pm 20 hours

Lifeworks is hiring a part time Van Driver to drive our Individuals with ID/DD to and from their appointments and recreational activities. We are a nonprofit human service agency that provides adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live engaged and meaningful lives. We're searching for an enthusiastic individual who will bring their personality, an independent work ethic, and a strong belief in enhancing the lives of those we serve .
Essential Duties:
  • Drives Lifeworks van to transport individuals from homes to worksites. Operates vehicle is a safe and legal manner, adhering to all laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in accordance with Lifeworks Policies and Procedures. Maintains vehicle with respect to safety and cleanliness. Reports all vehicle and maintenance needs to supervisor or designee as soon as possible.
  • Supervises and assures the safety of all individuals that are transported on their assigned vehicles.
  • Reports all concerns and or issues regarding the individuals on vehicle to supervisor or designee as soon as possible.
  • Ensures that all passengers utilize seat belts while being transported.
  • Secures passengers' wheelchairs to safety restraints to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Submit all necessary written documentation required in a timely and complete manner. These documents include, but are not limited to: Weekly personal time sheet (using Payroll System), monthly vehicle maintenance report, monthly individual attendance report and significant incident and accident reports as necessary
  • Assists passengers (as necessary) into and out of vehicle.
  • Maintains effective communication with other staff, families, and residential staff of individuals being transported.
  • Attends all transportation meetings and in-service trainings necessary for the driver position. Adheres to Lifeworks Guidelines regarding time off notification and approval for overtime from supervisor of, in his/her absence, their designee.
  • Other duties and/or assignments to work/program locations based on the needs of the company.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to pass Fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC and Driving background checks
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Experience driving vans is a plus and encouraged to apply
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
