Job description

The Lifeguard Instructor is responsible for training, developing, and certifying new lifeguards using the Starguard Elite accreditation program. This role ensures that all lifeguards meet the highest safety and rescue standards while maintaining a culture of professionalism and exceptional guest service.
Duties
- Training and Certification
- Conduct lifeguard training courses, including swim tests, rescue techniques, CPR, first aid, and other safety protocols.
- Prepare and deliver Starguard Elite certification classes, ensuring all trainees meet program standards.
- Administer skill evaluations and assessments for new lifeguard recruits.
- Maintain training records and ensure all certifications are current and compliant with regulations.
- Development and Oversight
- Mentor lifeguards throughout the onboarding and certification process, fostering a high standard of readiness and attentiveness.
- Lead ongoing refresher training sessions for active lifeguards to ensure continued compliance with Starguard Elite standards.
- Collaborate with Lead Lifeguards and Operations Supervisors to identify skill gaps and address training needs.
- Safety and Leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert in water safety and rescue techniques.
- Serve as an emergency backup for lifeguards during high-volume or critical situations.
- Assist in random audits of lifeguard skills and safety protocols.
- Operational Support
- Support various park operations, including assisting with grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, and emergency response planning.
- Participate in safety inspections and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience as a certified lifeguard, with a strong track record of guest service and safety.
- Certification as a Lifeguard Instructor through Starguard Elite or ability to obtain certification prior to starting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively teach and mentor diverse groups of trainees.
- High level of customer service and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
- Must meet and maintain the physical fitness requirements for lifeguards, including swimming, diving, and treading water.
- Ability to stand, sit, or remain alert for extended periods.
- Exposure to outdoor environments, including sun and heat, for extended durations.
- Must frequently bend, push, pull, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing in natural or treated water for extended periods.
