Overview:

University Place, a part of Franciscan Ministries, is a vibrant senior living community in West Lafayette, Indiana looking for Day (6a-2p) and Evening (2p-10p) Shift Certified Nursing Assistants - CNA to add to our team!

University Place is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), offering a variety of senior lifestyle options including independent living, assisted living, memory support assisted living and skilled nursing/long-term care.

Additionally, the onsite rehabilitation clinic offers inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and state-of-the-art programs designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and patients in the local community.

Day Shift (6a-2p) / Evening Shift 2p-10p every other weekend and rotating holidays.  Must enjoy working with the senior population

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for promoting the dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy, choice, and rights of the residents at the community. This role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living, medication reminders, and social and spiritual pursuits. This position will render personal care to residents and monitor their physical and cognitive wellbeing.

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including but not limited to; bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans and established community policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with lifting, turning, transferring, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Assist with dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up, clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
  • Monitor the residents’ physical and cognitive wellbeing and report changes to the nurse and supervisor.
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide resident assistance as needed to ensure intake. Document intake per community policy/procedure.
  • Participate in life enrichment programming and providing meaningful activities to residents.
  • Document resident care timely and accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Licenses/Certifications: Certified Nursing Certification may be required depending on state regulations

Experience: 1+ years of paid or volunteer experience working with seniors preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion in working with the elderly.
