What other jobs can an LPN do?

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) can work in various healthcare settings such as clinics, long-term care facilities, and home health. They often transition into roles like medical assistants, patient care technicians, or nursing assistants, and may pursue further education to become registered nurses (RNs). LPNs use skills in patient care, basic medical procedures, and documentation in their work.

Why don't hospitals hire LPNs anymore?

Hospitals increasingly prefer registered nurses (RNs) over licensed practical nurses (LPNs) due to the expanded scope of practice and higher level of training required for RNs. LPNs often work in long-term care or outpatient settings, as hospitals focus on roles that require more advanced skills and education, such as patient assessment and complex care management.

Can I work two nursing jobs at the same time?

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) can work two nursing jobs simultaneously if schedules and employer policies permit, but they must ensure they meet licensing requirements and avoid excessive fatigue. It is important to manage time effectively and adhere to work hour limits to maintain patient safety and professional standards.

What is a good second job to have as a nurse?

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) often choose second jobs such as home health care, medical assisting, or telehealth services, which utilize their clinical skills and offer flexible schedules. These roles typically require basic certifications and can be performed part-time or evenings to complement their primary nursing position.
