Job description

Library Assistant

The Library Assistant aids the Library Manager with the day-to-day operations of the ICP Library and Special Collections Room. The ideal candidate is interested in libraries, photobooks, and information science and is organized and methodical. Students will gain hands-on experience working with library collections while learning about cataloging, collection care, library operations, and information science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reshelve and organize library materials.
  • Assist with organizing donated materials.
  • Prepare books for cataloging.
  • Support the general upkeep, maintenance, and organization of the library.
  • Host a Photobook Club public program featuring a selection of books from the library.
  • Curate a photobook selection for display in the library.
  • Assist with special projects related to library collections as needed.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Interest in libraries, photobooks, archives, or information science.
  • Strong organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.

Eligibility

Only currently enrolled One-Year Certificate (OYC) students are eligible to apply. All applicants will be reviewed by the OYC Program Coordinator to confirm enrollment and eligibility.
