Job description

Job Title: Technical Services Student Assistant

Department: Library

Supervisor: Sheri Teleha

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

Department Description

Technical Services prepares books and materials prior to their addition to the general library collection. As a student employee you will gain experience working in an academic library and applying specific library processing.

Job Description

Responsible for the distribution of library mail including packages, as well as the physical processing of library materials, including book jackets, and book covers. RFID tagging of books as we prepare for the move to new Charman Library.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in Smith Library. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Labels books, DVDs, and other library materials
  • Stamps and strips or RFID tags library materials
  • Measures and cuts book jackets
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must be able to work independently, have attention to detail, have manual dexterity, be responsible, and available to work daily (Monday-Friday between 8:30am-5pm).

Desired Skills:

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA
  • Ability to lift and carry 15-20 lbs.
  • Attention to detail
