COMPENSATION RANGE: $47,203 - 99,323 per year. Placement on the salary schedule is based on verified, comparable education and experience. For more information on range placement, please review the REA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Instructional Technology Librarian champions innovation, promotes diverse literacies, and integrates digital tools to foster equitable learning environments. They collaborate with leaders to enhance the educational experience, focusing on the Illinois State Board of Education's Digital Skills Continuum. This role also encourages collaborative problem-solving among students using technology.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  2. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  4. Manages and curates the school library's print and digital resources to ensure the collection represents high quality, diverse and curriculum-aligned resources.
  5. Promotes a culture of reading and digital literacy among students.
  6. Collaborates with teachers to design and deliver technology-integrated lessons that align with the Illinois State Board of Education Continuum of Digital Skills and RPS curriculum for literacy, math, social science, science, music, PE, and art.
  7. Implements a developmentally appropriate digital literacy program to ensure students develop a strong foundation in essential digital skills.
  8. Plans and co-teaches with teachers to provide student learning experiences that align to curriculum materials and incorporate digital skills and technology when appropriate.
  9. Identifies and recommends educational technology tools and resources that align with curriculum objectives.
  10. Works with community partners to connect virtual and in person connections that extend the student's learning experience.
  11. Creates and delivers opportunities for students to collaboratively problem solve through technology and critical thinking skills.
  12. Facilitates projects and activities that encourage teamwork and critical thinking.
  13. Supports 1:1 technology in the building by checking devices in and out and provides basic troubleshooting support to teachers and students.
  14. Provides K-8 library services and digital skills lessons appropriate to the grade level for all levels of students within the school. (Only applicable to buildings supporting grades K-8)

QUALIFICATIONS: Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications required. Master's degree in Library Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field preferred. 4 or more years' experience working in a school library or educational setting of a classroom preferred.
