We are actively pursuing a dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of PBS Books Internin Wixom, MI.

What You'll Do:

The PBS Books Intern reports to the PBS Books Producer. This role provides support across the PBS Books department and its various programs, program series and initiatives. The intern will assist with project coordination and tracking, database and information management, social media and promotional content development, communications and writing projects, as well as production and post-production support.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across several areas of digital media production, including program development, project management, communications, audience engagement, social media and content production.

Essential Functions May Include:

• Support the PBS Books Producer to maintain and organize records and databases related to PBS Books programs, productions, partners and other department initiatives.
• Provide research support for upcoming programs, themes, authors, guests and other department initiatives as needed.
• Assist with productions and post-production projects as needed, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience supporting the development and execution of PBS Books content.
• Support the development and drafting of social media content and promotional messaging for PBS Books programs and initiatives.
• Support communications and audience engagement efforts surrounding PBS Books programs and events.
• Attend and participate in weekly PBS Books meetings and other relevant planning meetings.
• Provide general administrative and project support to the PBS Books team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Excellent written, oral and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to track multiple projects, deadlines and deliverables simultaneously.
• Ability to organize, manage and accurately maintain information across databases, spreadsheets and other project management systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other standard workplace productivity tools.
• Familiarity with project management, database or organizational tools is preferred.
• Strong online research skills.
• Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms is preferred.
• Interest in books, media, public media, publishing, digital content, libraries or community engagement is a plus.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a university or vocational tech training program.
• Pursuing a communications, library science, marketing, or related degree.
• Ability and willingness to work mandatory 20 hours per week, minimum 3 days, with a 16 week commitment.

Intern applicants must be currently enrolled at a college or university, or have recently (within past 6 months) graduated with a relevant degree. The internship program is unpaid and focused on education and training.
