Barrios Technology has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Boeing Engineering Technical and Services (BETS) contract in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you'll administer complex Windows, Linux, and Solaris environments, manage enterprise server infrastructure, backup and recovery systems, Active Directory, networking, and storage solutions, while collaborating with Boeing, NASA, and industry partners to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing lab environments. If you're a systems administrator with expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, Veritas NetBackup, HPE server hardware, Active Directory, and enterprise IT infrastructure, this is your opportunity to support mission-critical aerospace programs at the forefront of innovation.
Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator will:
  • Setup and manage servers with Microsoft Windows Server operating system (OS). Versions 2000, 2012 R2 and 2022.
  • Setup and manage Veritas Netbackup (NBU) backup software on Windows Server. Versions 4.5, 5.1, 7.6 and 10.4.
  • Setup and manage Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) server hardware. Versions DL585 G2, DL180 G8, DL380 G8 and DL380 G10+
  • Setup and manage HPE and Broadcom hardware RAID controllers for logical volume disk control in HPE server hardware. Experience with RAID1, RAID10, RAID5 and RAID6 logical volumes.
  • Setup and manage HPE StorageWorks tape library systems with LTO tape drives for storage of tape backups of program data. Experience with HPE StorageWorks MSL4048 and MSL3040 tape libraries with LTO tape drives of generation 2, 6, 7 and 9, and SCSI HBA controllers that interface the HPE server to the MSL tape library.
  • Manage Veritas NBU backups in a mixed client operating system (OS) environment including Microsoft Windows, Solaris, and Linux.
  • Setup and manage Windows, Solaris and Linux computer systems. Manage user account tasks on servers and workstations in Windows, Solaris and Linux environments in numerous labs.
  • Setup and manage a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) network in the SILTF lab.
  • Setup and manage computer TCP/IP settings, lab networks and lab network switches.
  • Interface with HPE Technical Support to facilitate repairs of server hardware as needed.
  • Interface with Veritas Technical Support as needed for Netbackup software issues.
  • Maintain active support contracts, and an active account, with HPE and Veritas to have access to Technical Support.
  • Interface with local IT and NASA Security personnel to manage requests for network changes, network problems, and maintain Security Plans.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, plus five (5) years of experience, or any equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Background/experience in Microsoft Server operating systems.
  • Experience with HPE server hardware in various configurations.
  • Experience with Veritas Netbackup software or some other similar backup software tool.
  • Experience with various Windows PC, Linux and even Solaris operating systems.
  • Experience with networking within a lab environment. A basic understanding of how to setup and modify TCP/IP network configurations on servers and various computers with Microsoft Windows, Solaris and Linux OS's, and how to connect them through a network switch.
  • Effectively communicating and interacting with numerous people and groups regularly.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.

Preferences:
  • Any training related to: Microsoft operating systems, Linux operating systems, some variant of backup tools/software, TCP/IP networking, and even network security.
  • Training or experience on setup and managing of Microsoft server operating systems and TCP/IP networking.
  • Training or experience on setup and managing of Linux operating systems.
  • Training or experience on Veritas Netbackup software or training/experience with another flavor of backup software that may be comparable.
  • Training or experience with setup and monitoring of HPE server hardware and tape library systems.
  • Training or experience with providing system administration support of Microsoft Windows servers and client PC's and Linux based computers in a lab environment.
  • Training or experience with setup, management, etc... of TCP/IP networks in a lab or configuration of TCP/IP on computers within a lab.
  • Training or experience with setup, management, etc... of TCP/IP networks in a lab or configuration of TCP/IP on computers within a lab.
  • Support set up and system configuration to be compliant of NIST and Program required IT Security controls of lab system utilized by ISS.

Essential Requirements

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
