Job description

Graphic Design Intern

The Batture | Fall 2026


The Batture is a riverfront venue on the Mississippi in Uptown New Orleans, home to food trucks and Miss Market, live music and events, coworking, and the Batture Barnyard, all set between the levee and the river. Our brand has grown from 1,000 to more than 34,000 Instagram followers in under two years, and nearly everything on site is designed and hand-painted rather than printed. We're looking for a design intern whose work will be seen by thousands of visitors every week.

Why this internship

This is a portfolio-building role. Signs you paint get installed on site, graphics you design reach an audience of more than 35,000 followers, and you'll finish the semester with a body of unique and impactful work.

Position details

  • Unpaid internship, academic credit strongly encouraged
  • Flexible schedule, 10 to 20 hours per week, mix of on-site and remote
  • Fall 2026 semester, starting as soon as possible


What you'll do

Design and signage

  • Design graphics for digital and print, including flyers, signage, site maps, and event promo
  • Prep, design, and hand-paint venue signage
  • Keep visual branding consistent across everything we put out
  • Create original photo, video, and design content in The Batture's voice
  • Contribute to merchandise design
  • Research design precedents and build reference libraries for new projects

Marketing

  • Build and maintain design templates and brand guidelines
  • Capture photo and video during events for the marketing archive
  • Keep the marketing asset library organized, uploading and archiving photo, video, and design files


Who we're looking for

  • Studying or seriously interested in graphic design, visual arts, illustration, or sign painting
  • Comfortable in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Hand-lettering or painting experience is a plus.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to run multiple projects at once
  • Works well independently and with a small team
