Please note: The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position based off 20 hours per week will be $25,851.50 - $34,882.50 based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

THIS RECRUITMENT WILL GENERATE A 6-MONTH ELIGIBLE LIST TO FILL CURRENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES FOR THE PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSISTANT I AT ALL LOCATIONS WITHIN MCPL.

Successful Candidates:

The successful part- time (20 hours per week) Library Assistant I candidate for this position will need to be passionate about providing courteous customer service at the circulation desk and throughout the library, be highly enthusiastic about being part of the team and assisting with shelving and processing of library materials. The candidate will need to be comfortable with technology and provide basic computer assistance.

Hours for this position:

  • Library hours of operation are 7 days a week including evenings, days, and weekends. Employees are expected to be available for work during these times. Individual schedules, including evenings and weekends, will vary based on branch operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized by the State of Maryland. Experience: One (1) year of library support work. Substitution: N/A Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Physical Demands: Ability to perform light physical effort, such as keyboarding, standing, or staying in place and lifting, carrying and/or moving book tubs, carts and library materials weighing 20 pounds, regularly, and up to 50 pounds, as required. Medical exam protocol: This position requires completion of a pre-employment medical history form to assess your ability to safely perform the essential duties of the role.
