TITLE: LIBRARY TECHNICIAN
WORK SCHEDULE: 10 months
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff Salary Schedule - Group C
  • $15.78

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
To have a positive working relationship with students, instructors and staff; to assure the successful operation of a school library; to assist in maintaining a stimulating learning environment for students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Processes incoming/outgoing library books and materials utilizing manual and computerized systems;
  • Maintains integrity of both print and non-print materials;
  • Reshelves returned books and materials;
  • Maintains a physical environment that is conducive to a positive learning environment;
  • Plans, prepares and maintains bulletin boards and display areas;
  • Maintains card files;
  • Operates and schedules school audio/visual/communications systems;
  • Maintains inventory of books, equipment and AV materials;
  • Prepares circulation reports as required;
  • Performs simple repairs on books, equipment and other materials;
  • Supervises students as assigned;
  • Prepares overdue notices and collects fines or fees for lost books;
  • Assists teachers in locating and selecting materials;
  • Assists teachers in student instruction of basic library skills;
  • Maintains schedule of library activities for each classroom/group;
  • Assists with fund raisers such as book fairs;
  • Conducts story time;
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Associate's degree, 60 credit hours of college or evidence of passing score on acceptable paraprofessional exam;
  • Prior library experience desirable;
  • Data entry experience desirable;
  • Ability to communicate and work well with staff and students.

D. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Must use sound judgment in performing tasks;
