Job description

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking a dependable and skilled Building Maintenance Worker to join our team. This part-time position plays a key role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all library buildings and grounds across our locations.
Position Summary
The Building Maintenance Worker performs upkeep and maintenance of library facilities and grounds, conducts semi-skilled repairs, and assists with daily departmental operations. Work is performed at all W-TCPL locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect buildings and grounds for safety issues and maintenance needs.
  • Clean and maintain floors, including vacuuming, sweeping, waxing, buffing, and mopping.
  • Perform general cleaning of offices, public areas, restrooms, and staff areas.
  • Maintain exterior grounds seasonally, including snow/ice removal and window washing.
  • Conduct semi-skilled electrical repairs (e.g., replacing outlets, switches, ballasts).
  • Perform plumbing tasks such as repairing/replacing valves and water lines.
  • Complete minor carpentry projects (e.g., door and lock repairs, drywall, painting).
  • Assist with room setup, moving furniture and equipment, and assembling furnishings.
  • Operate the library van for deliveries between branch locations as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational training in a maintenance trade preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance position preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and custodial best practices, including safety.
  • Ability to follow instructions and operate cleaning/maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Comfortable driving a van in all weather conditions.

Compensation
  • Starting hourly rate: $16.09
  • Position is part-time, scheduled for 25 hours/week
