Job description

We are seeking a forward-thinking SharePoint Online Administrator who is highly skilled in designing, managing, and evolving enterprise SharePoint solutions to support NASA’s Office of Strategic Infrastructure and Center Operations Directorate. This role requires someone who can understand mission needs, translate requirements into effective digital solutions, and guide customers toward smarter, more efficient use of SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365.

*On-Site - Must reside within 50 miles of a NASA Center.*

Primary Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with customers, site owners, and mission teams to understand their day‑to‑day challenges and information management needs.

• Help translate business requirements into practical SharePoint solutions such as pages, lists, libraries, and basic workflows or forms.

• Improve site organization and searchability by setting up and maintaining site structures and document libraries. Use consistent metadata and simple taxonomy guidelines so users can easily find the information they need.

• Offer guidance on SharePoint features and recommend ways users can streamline their processes using built‑in capabilities.

• Assist with creating new business solutions using SharePoint Online, Power Automate, Power Apps, and other Microsoft 365 tools, focusing on configuration rather than custom development.

• Create and maintain site templates, list configurations, metadata setups, and basic term store entries to support organized and consistent content management.

• Support teams in making full use of SharePoint as a collaboration and information‑sharing platform.

• Manage site collections, permissions, storage settings, and basic configuration tasks across SharePoint Online.

• Apply security, compliance, and governance settings based on established organizational standards.

• Help oversee content lifecycle tasks such as archiving, maintaining clean version histories, and ensuring metadata is properly used.

• Troubleshoot common SharePoint issues including access problems, performance concerns, and configuration inconsistencies.

• Assist with site migrations, onboarding new SharePoint sites, and supporting cross‑team coordination around platform use.

• Review current SharePoint or Microsoft 365 setups and provide practical recommendations to improve usability, efficiency, and compliance with organizational guidelines.

• Build and maintain simple Power BI dashboards or reports to help teams view data and make informed decisions.

• Share progress on SharePoint improvements with leadership in clear, easy‑to‑understand terms.

• Proactively communicate risks, limitations, and opportunities to customers and stakeholders.


Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field.

• 4+ years’ experience with SharePoint Online, Power Platform, or M365 tools

• Support day‑to‑day management of SharePoint Online and M365 sites, including site collections, libraries, lists, permissions, and basic site structure.

• Improve data organization and ease of use by helping implement consistent folder structures, metadata, and simple retention practices.

• Working knowledge of SharePoint Online features and integration with Teams, OneDrive, and M365 Groups.

• Assist with monitoring storage usage, applying sharing settings, and following governance guidelines.

• Basic PowerShell experience for routine tasks such as bulk updates, permissions adjustments, and generating reports.

• Familiarity with Entra ID (Azure AD) concepts related to authentication and access control.

• Support the application of security settings, governance policies, retention labels, and proper access management.

• Understand versioning, recycle bin processes, and common recovery steps.

• General awareness of SharePoint performance basics and standard troubleshooting approaches.

• Experience using migration tools or supporting SharePoint data moves between cloud and on‑prem environments.

• Build simple workflows or automations using Power Platform tools like Power Automate

• Comfortable working with Teams, OneDrive, and Power Platform integrations; awareness of modern SharePoint features.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical steps in an easy‑to‑understand way.
