Purpose of Role

Daemen University Library seeks a part-time evening weekend circulation technical assistant. The hours are either Saturdays 4:30pm to 11pm and Sundays from 10am to 4:30pm OR Saturdays 9am to 4:30pm and Sundays 4:30 pm to 1am during the academic year. Duties include supervision of circulation, student workers and general library oversight.

This position is part-time, 9 months, up to 24 hours per week. This is an hourly position $17.13 (non-exempt), not benefit eligible.

About This Opportunity

Joining our RIC/Library, the Evening Weekend Reference and Circulation Technical Assistant will be responsible for the following:

Oversees and manages all Circulation Desk functions during day/evening .

Conducts or supervises all clerical functions dealing with collection maintenance.

Assists in performing inter-library loan clerical duties.

Supervises and helps train student employees during evening hours and weekends.

Works closely with the Librarians to assist all Library users.

Required Qualifications

Basic computer skills and ability to learn library related software and applications

Customer service skills to address the needs of students and faculty regarding library services and collections

Excellent communication skills

Excellent problem-solving skills

Bachelor's degree required. MLS or library experience and previous supervisory experience preferred.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday.
