Job description

Position Overview The Weston Public Schools is seeking a Library Paraprofessional for Weston High School. This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week when school is in session. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 167 students (K-12). Key Responsibilities
  • Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion
  • Assist faculty, staff and students with library research and technology; and use of library equipment and materials
  • Maintain online library catalog ensuring collection and patron data is accurate
  • Prepare, maintain and distribute overdue notices to students and faculty
  • Maintain calendar of library and equipment use
  • Shelve materials and organize library daily and perform annual maintenance of shelved materials
  • Check in and out library materials including, but not limited to, books, AV materials and equipment
  • Process all new materials (books, AV materials and equipment) for circulation including inputting and/or downloading records in the circulation/catalog database
  • Read to or teach library skills to classes during weekly library visits
  • Perform other duties as directed by Building Principal and/or her designee
Desired Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required, Associate's Degree or higher preferred
  • Experience working with students, including students with special needs strongly preferred
  • Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom
Compensation and Professional Growth A Library Paraprofessional will earn between $24.24 to $26.06 per hour, dependent on relevant experience and qualifications, and the position is represented by the Weston Aides/Paraprofessionals Association. Additionally, Weston offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System. Professional growth is ongoing in Weston and supported through multiple opportunities, both internally and externally.
