Position: Librarian/Media Specialist (3)
Pennsauken Public Schools is an urban/suburban Pre-K to 12th grade school district of approximately 5,000 students located in Camden County, New Jersey
Responsibilities:
  • Assists Language Arts supervisors with the creation of classroom libraries for the district
  • Researches and orders authentic young adult literature titles that connect reading and writing themes in Language Arts textbooks for the district
  • Analyzes library collections and prepares annual book orders
  • Researches databases and Internet applications that support curriculum for the district
  • Co-teaches the research process on an "as needed" basis at intermediate and middle school level
  • Conducts annual library needs assessments
  • Assists library aides in the maintenance and care of school libraries and their collections for the district
  • Creates a library reading incentive program for the district
  • Takes inventory of all media center materials
  • Operates specialized computer system for circulation media center materials
  • Maintains and organizes periodicals
  • Assists in controlling status of books in circulation
  • Orders library supply materials
  • Assists with the processing of new materials
  • Maintains computerized records
  • Liaison with the Pennsauken Township Library

Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Library and Information Sciences
  • Experience in a school library
  • General knowledge of the procedures, practices and equipment of a school library center

  • Endorsement #2850, or #2855 Library Skills Development New Jersey State Certification REQUIRED
  • MUST pass NJ Criminal History Review Unit fingerprinting requirement
  • New Jersey State residency requirements for public employees in effect
