Job Overview:
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library (Heights Libraries) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adult Services Associate to join our team at the Noble Road Branch. This part-time position plays a critical role in providing exceptional customer service at the busy reference desk while also assisting in program planning.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for help library patrons of all ages. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, people-oriented environment.
Requirements
Education:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
โ€ข Coursework or experience related to social work, or library science is a plus.
Experience:
โ€ข Experience working in a public library or customer service role, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Experience working with diverse populations is strongly preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
โ€ข Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of people.
โ€ข Comfort with technology and software, including Microsoft Office applications and digital library resources.
โ€ข Patience and adaptability when assisting customers of varying levels of technical expertise.
โ€ข Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
โ€ข Strong communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to clearly explain information to others.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Work Environment and Conditions:
โ€ข Location: Based at the Noble Road Branch of Heights Libraries, working in a busy, dynamic library environment.
โ€ข Work Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week), covering day and evening shifts, including weekends.
โ€ข Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and push carts. Ability to move materials and interact with the public in a variety of settings.
