Description
If you're looking for a claims role where you can make a real impact-not just manage a desk-this is it. Our Construction Liability team handles moderate to high-exposure claims for some of the largest owner/developers, general contractors, and subcontractors across the country. From NY Labor Law and OCIP/CCIP programs to road construction losses, underground utility strikes, and major liability exposures tied to active job sites across the Country, the work is challenging, fast-moving, and meaningful.
The Senior Claims Specialist works within a Claims Team navigating some of the most challenging construction claims in the industry. You will work in a team of claims professionals who may work in office or remote depending on their location. You will partner with a strong leadership team that values accountability, collaboration, and growth. If you enjoy working along top talent, making tough decisions, and being part of a team that takes pride in doing the right thing at the right time, this is a place where you can build something bigger than just your next role.
This includes making decisions about liability/compensability, evaluating losses, negotiating settlements and managing an inventory of commercial property/casualty claims involving bodily injury or property loss. The Senior Claims Specialist may also assist the Claims Team Manager with assigning new claims to team members, providing technical direction, and monitoring caseloads.
This is a remote position. You will be required to go into the office twice a month if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Boston, MA; Suwanee, GA; Plano, TX or Hoffman Estates, IL. Please note this policy is subject to change.
Responsibilities:
  • Plans and conducts investigations of multi-party construction liability claims across jurisdictions. Independently manage moderate to high exposure claims involving Commercial General Liability policies including OCP, OCIP, CCIP and Self-Insured Retention programs. Conduct timely liability investigations, evaluate risk transfer opportunities, and develop defense strategies in coordination with counsel to drive efficient, outcome-focused resolutions
  • Drive proactive claim outcomes through early investigations and strategic decision making. Own the full claim lifecycle from coverage analysis and reserving to negotiation and resolution - by making timely, well-supported decisions. Actively manage litigation, set clear expectations with clients and counsel, and pursue early resolution strategies to reduce cycle time, legal spend, and overall claim severity.
  • Acts as senior technical professional on team, mentor and elevate team performance through coaching. Serve as a resource for less experienced adjusters by providing real-time guidance on coverage, liability, and investigation strategy. Reinforce best practices in documentation, reserving and communication, contributing to improved QA outcomes and consistent execution across the team.
  • Participates in conducting Suit Committees, Roundtables, Arbitrations, Mediations, field investigations and may assist in conducting closed file reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with customers and conduct investigations required.
  • Leadership ability and demonstrated time management skills to delegate work appropriately and organize resources effectively.
  • Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of claims case handling practices, legal liability, general insurance policy coverage, and the state`s tort laws as normally acquired through a bachelor`s degree (or equivalent training) plus 3 to 5 years directly related work experience.
  • Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses.
