Systems Engineer III

Location: Columbia, MD
Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph Required

Position Overview

SNS One is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to support a mission-critical environment in Columbia, MD. The selected candidate will provide senior-level systems engineering and infrastructure support within a complex enterprise environment. This role requires strong expertise in Linux administration, VMware virtualization, Ansible automation, systems integration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure sustainment.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience supporting enterprise systems, leading engineering efforts, optimizing infrastructure performance, and ensuring compliance with government security requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux (Red Hat) and Windows operating systems, including software installation, system maintenance, network configuration, and performance enhancements.
  • Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for enterprise IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain client, server, storage, network, and mobile device environments, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Support help desk operations, dispatch systems, and hardware troubleshooting through resolution.
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues involving server hardware, applications, software integration, and system performance.
  • Optimize system operations, resource utilization, capacity planning, and overall infrastructure reliability.
  • Lead and support systems engineering initiatives, including planning, design, implementation, and operational sustainment.
  • Support and maintain NetApp storage environments.
  • Ensure compliance with STE/STN requirements and support mitigation activities.
  • Analyze user requirements, system architectures, and operational concepts to develop system requirements and engineering solutions.
  • Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including requirements, specifications, interface control documents, test plans, and engineering plans.
  • Participate in system integration, testing, configuration management, and risk management activities.
  • Interface with government stakeholders, program personnel, and senior leadership regarding technical issues and project execution.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the system lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Current Full Scope Polygraph
  • IAT Level II Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline
    • Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts
Required Technical SkillsVMware & Virtualization
  • Extensive VMware administration, virtualization, and infrastructure support experience
  • Experience managing enterprise virtualized environments
Automation & Configuration Management
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible automation and configuration management
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated operational processes
  • Scripting and automation experience
Linux Administration
  • Strong Linux administration experience with emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning in Linux environments
Enterprise Technologies
  • Splunk or similar enterprise monitoring and analytics platforms
  • Systems integration and enterprise infrastructure support
  • Security compliance and mitigation activities
Work Schedule
  • At least one late shift per week (until 6:00 PM)
  • Patch and maintenance activities may require occasional evening support with flexible scheduling adjustments
Salary Range

$150,000 - $200,000 annually

Compensation is commensurate with experience, technical skill set, educational qualifications, and security clearance level.

Clearance Requirement

TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required for consideration.
