Description SAN GABRIEL MISSION PLAYHOUSE STAGE RIGGER / FLYMAN THE OPPORTUNITY The City of San Gabriel Mission Playhouse has an exciting opportunity for Stage Rigger / Flyman. Stage Riggers must have journey-level knowledge and experience with the planning, coordination, and set-up of rigging equipment and fly systems used for stage events. Stage Riggers must also have a strong work ethic and customer service skills, communicate effectively with others, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Stage Riggers are required to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and on short notice. Examples of Duties Under the supervision of the Playhouse BOH Coordinator and/or the Assistant BOH Coordinator, the Stage Rigger coordinates and/or directs the safe delivery, setup, installation, use, maintenance and dismantling of rigging equipment and fly systems used for stage events. This position is also responsible for making final safety-related decisions, maintaining equipment, coordinating staff, and other related duties.

Typical Qualifications Professional experience in theater rigging and fly rail operations. Must have knowledge of the following: All rigging fundamentals and terminology including rope knots to ensure all loads are properly balanced and secured. Rigging stage scenery, hard set pieces, and soft goods.

Safe operation of the fly rail system, hand lines systems, and motorized capstan hoist or Mule. Operating rigging equipment during load-ins, shows, and loadouts. Assisting outside company riggers to install and strike equipment.

Identifying any additional rigging equipment that may be required. Performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment being used. Perform annual rigging system inspections and recommend necessary maintenance to adhere to safety standards.

Knowledge and adherence to safety standards for rigging equipment and practices safe working methods. ETCP Certification or 5 years of job experience is a plus. Must have the following attributes: Communicates effectively with a diverse and multicultural environment.

Team oriented - works well in a team setting or individually. Conscientious with a strong proclivity for adhering to safety standards and safe working methods. Resourceful and innovative.

Ability to exert physical effort, such as walking, climbing, standing, reaching pulling, lifting and pulling up to 50 lbs., bending and twisting. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Supplemental Information SPECIAL PROVISIONS Bilingual Pay - Bilingual pay of $0.58 per hour may be provided to employees who pass a proficiency examination in a second language such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Spanish

Bilingual pay shall be provided based on the need of the department and approval of the City. Eligibility and need will be determined on a case-by-case basis. PARS Program - Part-Time Employees are required to participate in the Public Retirement Services (PARS) retirement savings/investment program in-lieu of Social Security.
