Hours: 12hr Nights 4pm-4am 
 
Days: Rotating days (2-2-3-3)
 
Pay: Depending on Experience $35-$43 per hour
 
 
As a Maintenance Technician with Avient, you are responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible; while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet Plant goals. To be successful in this role you should be multi-skilled and able to contribute to plant maintenance activities in a variety of craft disciplines. This position will support onsite fabrication and maintenance teams with large CAPEX installs and moves, machine commissioning, OPEX improvements to machines, and tooling improvements.

Qualifications

  • Precision Machining- working knowledge of mills, lathes, saws, shear, brake, surface grinder, 

  • Machine Alignment-Ability to move, precision level, install industrial equipment

  • Knowledge of machine leveling devices (machinists' level, laser level, transit)

  • Forklift certification

  • Familiarity with machine guarding and safety measures

  • Able to use common millwright tools (hand tools, impacts, machine skates, voltmeter, dial indicator, calipers, micrometer, welding, cutting, grinding)

  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • Good communications skills and teamwork

  • Self-Starter- able to work under minimal supervision and direction

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time

Experience

  • 15 years industrial or manufacturing experience

  • 10 years industrial maintenance/fabrication/machining

  • 2 years Crane/Rigging Experience 

  • 10 years Welding (MIG, TIG)

Physical Demands

Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening

Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs

May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds

Ability to frequently communicate and understand work instructions and information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where noise level is loud

Must be able to detect and discern safety alarms and respond accordingly

Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection

Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine

May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity

May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes

Essential Functions

Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts, repairs or replaces defective parts.
Sets up and operates shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder. etc. Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment down time and lost production capability.
Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment. Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
Operates forklift and hydraulic working platform as needed.
Researches supplies, parts and tools needed to complete work orders.
Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
