Position Summary

Become a key contributor in ensuring precision and compliance at the highest level. As a Quality Inspector III, reporting directly to the Manager of Quality Control, you will perform dimensional inspections using advanced tools and techniques to verify that our products meet rigorous contractual and engineering standards. This role offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art Computer-Aided Inspection (CAI) equipment at the operator level, while supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense programs through close collaboration with engineers, customers, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform independent inspections, validations, and verifications of hardware to ensure compliance with drawings and contractual requirements.
  • Perform intermediate-level inspections utilizing surface plate techniques and computer-aided inspection (CAI) equipment USING CMM machine and Verisurf software at the operator level. 
  • Perform intermediate-level inspections utilizing different CAI equipment like different FARO/Romer arms, laser trackers, and video dimensioning systems - at the operator level.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles including Angularity, Profile, Runout, Symmetry, and True Position.
  • Use basic algebra and trigonometry to calculate true positions and perform dimensional analysis
  • Interpret and communicate inspection results and issues to customers, engineers, and management
  • Operate and interpret programs/models for CAI equipment as needed
  • Perform casting and forging layouts as required
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior inspectors
  • Conduct source inspections and travel in support of Marvin Engineering Company (MEC) quality needs

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a dimensional inspector
  • Minimum 3 years of direct, hands-on experience operating surface plates and Computer-Aided Inspection (CAI) equipment such as CMMs (e.g., Verisurf) at the operator level.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their practical application
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in basic algebra and trigonometry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Comfortable working in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Certifications in GD&T, Quality Inspection, or relevant ASQ areas.
  • Experience interpreting and using CAI programs and 3D models.
  • Familiarity with advanced CAI systems such as Laser Trackers or Video Dimensioning tools.
  • Experience performing casting and forging layouts
  • Experience conducting source inspections
  • Prior experience mentoring or training junior inspectors
