At Level II, technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment, interpret results, and document findings according to industry codes and standards. They also have the authority to supervise Level I technicians and provide guidance on testing procedures. Level II certification generally requires both classroom training and hands-on experience, along with passing a written exam. These technicians play a crucial role in quality assurance and safety across industries like oil and gas, aerospace, and construction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Level II RT Technician?

To thrive as a Level II RT Technician, you need a solid understanding of radiographic testing principles, material properties, and safety protocols, typically supported by ASNT or equivalent Level II certification. Familiarity with X-ray or gamma ray equipment, film interpretation tools, and adherence to codes such as ASME and API are expected. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective communication help technicians accurately detect flaws and report findings.
