Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking a Reliability Systems Engineer- Level 4to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

*Please be aware that this position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding. Additionally, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.*

Job responsibilities and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Perform various reliability related tasks including: leading reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability predictions/assessments, de-rating analysis assessment, allocation of reliability requirements, failure rate estimation/assessments, facilitation of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), facilitation of critical items identification and documentation of controls/mitigations, and providing support to design reviews and failure investigations.

-Create reliability block diagrams/models that reflect the functions, failure modes, and characteristics of the system/unit being analyzed.

-Work with engineering team to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.

-Adapt with probability and statistical tools/principles to recognize and solve problems involving non-standard configurations/definitions of system success.

-Utilize standard commercial best practices and industry tools to cost-effectively conduct reliability analyses and assessments.

Basic Qualifications for Reliability Systems Engineer- Level 4:

-Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 8+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 6+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 4+ years of engineering experience

-Understanding of how to perform and assess various reliability predictions

-Familiarity with modeling/simulation software tools used for Reliability analysis

-Familiarity with understanding and interpreting electrical schematics/drawings, functional block diagrams, and ability to accurately create reliability block diagrams

-Experienced in performing and documenting a Unit or System level Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) based on standard commercial best-practices,

-Experienced in performing and documenting piece-part / component failure rate estimation using best available data (e.g, handbook method(s), life test based, etc.)

-Candidate must have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate's maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Preferred Qualifications for Reliability Systems Engineer- Level 4:

-Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering

-Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design

-Ability to combine hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems

-Availability modeling and analysis experience or exposure

-Experience performing a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and failure rate estimation

-PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure

-Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
