Position Summary
As a Level IV Machine Operator, you'll be a senior level operator on our manufacturing team, producing fluid-system components that meet the highest quality standards. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who can confidently and independently operate and maintain machinery in a production environment, troubleshoot and solve complex problems, and perform machine changeovers while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
You'll have the opportunity to use and grow your machining expertise every day, while serving as a mentor to junior team members. You'll be provided all the tools and gauges necessary to be successful in your role. You'll work independently following set up procedures and quality plans leveraging your knowledge and experience in machining, tooling, and problem solving across a variety of machines in a clean, safe, modern, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
Your day will include a variety of responsibilities that keep production running safely and efficiently, including:
  • Follow Swagelok's production system (SPS) such as participating in a daily shift start-up meeting with your team. You'll give or receive a shift handoff report that sets the incoming or outgoing shifts up for success.
  • Perform advanced machine setups, changeovers, and adjustments on a variety of manufacturing equipment according to standard work instructions minimal assistance
  • Monitor machine outputs for quality, adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine settings as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, and programming.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, ring gauges, dial indicators, smart gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify and lead process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and/or safety.
  • Support implementation of new equipment, tooling, and production methods
  • Complete preventative maintenance and routine machine care.
  • Document production activities accurately and maintain manufacturing records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned equipment .

  • Train and mentor less experienced operators.

What Makes You Successful

Successful candidates will have:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years' experience in machining that includes:
    • Extensive machine changeover experience
    • Independently troubleshooting and solving complex machine equipment, tooling and programming issues
    • Ability to Interpret blueprints, specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
    • Expansive tooling knowledge, including but not limited to, inspection gages, comparator, micrometers, calipers, 6" rule, dial indicator, ring gages, drill/reamer, Johnson gages and Datum gages, magnifier and lights, miscellaneous hand tools and chip strippers.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience mentoring junior machinists
  • A willingness to work overtime hours as needed

Physical Requirements
This position requires working in a manufacturing environment and may include:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping.
  • Lifting materials weighing 25-35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Working safely around manufacturing equipment.
  • Passing required vision acuity testing, where applicable.
