Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the repair, maintenance and installation of commercial air conditioning, heating, and building automation systems
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
  • Must pass drug test and physical and be part of a random drug testing program
  • Must pass criminal history check

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Completed apprenticeship training or two years technical training preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics interpret instructions, and prepare simple specifications
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
  • Certified in refrigerant recovery preferred
  • Minimum of four (4) years as a Commercial HVAC Technician preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Performs installation, maintenance and major repair on commercial HVAC equipment
  • Completes work orders concerning repairs and adjustments
  • Makes routine adjustments to start or stop seasoned equipment
  • Adjust air flow, safety devices, and thermostats
  • Repairs major HVAC equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, and other related equipment
  • Completes preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned
  • Provides maintenance, diagnosis and repair of: Carrier, Trane, York air cooled chillers up to 250 tons, Rayback, Sellers, Rite, Ajax, AO Smith, Lochinvar, Patterson Kelly, PVI, TEledyne Lars and HP, Thermific boilers and water source heat pumps, CW/HW pumps, VFD systems, Carrier flotronics control systems, building automations systems i.e. Siemens, SLC, Unify, New HVAC equipment as added to district
  • Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, time entry and work orders
  • Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions.
Physical Demands/Environment Factors:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials. May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
