Job description

Job Overview
We are excited to announce the opening of a new Japanese fine dining restaurant and are seeking a talented and experienced Sommeliers. The ideal candidate will bring a genuine passion for sincere hospitality to our team and guests. This role offers an opportunity to be a part of something unique and special. Sommelier's will be responsible for providing excellent beverage service with a strong product knowledge and command of Wine and Sake.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of all of our beverage offerings.
  • Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of our decanters, wine station and storage, and all areas pertaining to the beverage program.
  • Prepare and serve all of our beverages
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of beverages
  • Monitor alcohol consumption to promote responsible drinking practices
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate service flow during busy hours
  • Uphold brand standards and ensure the restaurant’s ambiance

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years in NYC as a Sommelier and proven experience in a fine dining or upscale hospitality setting with a strong knowledge of Wine and Sake
  • Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers (Certified Sommelier or above)
  • WSET Level 3 in Sake
  • Kikisake-shi (Sake Sommelier) or higher - or equivalent credentials
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently
  • Experience in sales techniques to promote beverage offerings effectively
  • Background in food safety, food handling, and responsible alcohol service regulations
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant schedule
