M&J is seeking a ADA Quality Assurance Specialist, to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related accessibility standards in the design, construction, and operation of transit facilities.

Responsibilities

Conduct field audits and compliance evaluations of WMATA facilities, infrastructure, and transit assets (i.e., rail stations, bus bays, garages, and related facilities) to identify accessibility deficiencies in alignment with ADA, ABA, CFR, and WMATA standards. Document audit findings with detailed references to applicable codes and standards. Enter, manage, and track audit data using WMATA's automated audit tools, including Microsoft SharePoint, Maximo, and Excel databases. Develop and maintain organized records of accessibility defects, ensuring data integrity and usability for internal stakeholders. Develop and maintain inspection checklists, databases, and monthly Quality Assurance reports that track non-compliant conditions, remediation progress, and prioritization of corrective actions. Incorporate customer input and usability considerations into audit findings, ensuring real-world accessibility experiences are reflected alongside code compliance. Analyze audit results to support remediation planning, providing technical recommendations to address accessibility gaps. Prioritize identified defects based on severity, customer impact, safety, usability, and regulatory requirements, aligning with WMATA's capital planning processes. Collaborate with SWACC staff, internal departments, and external stakeholders to ensure audit findings and remediation priorities are integrated into planning, budgeting, and project development cycles. Generate reports, dashboards, and summaries for stakeholders that highlight. Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or architecture. Registered PE or Architect in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in accessible design, ADA/DOT (49 CFR Part 37) compliance, and architectural/engineering design review for transportation facilities. Demonstrated ability to review civil engineering and architectural drawings, site plans, and calculations for full compliance with ADA Standards for Transportation, the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA), and Section 504 usability requirements. Proven capability to identify deficiencies and propose workable, usable, and cost-effective accessible design solutions for civil and architectural projects. Experience conducting accessibility reviews for transportation facilities, including bus stops, rail stations, vehicles, and related infrastructure. Experience in the review of raised lettering and braille tactile signage for ADA compliance and usability. Experience performing ADA substantial completion inspections, preparing compliance punch-lists, and referencing applicable ADA standards to ensure resolution of deficiencies. Proficiency in auditing and data management tools, including Microsoft SharePoint, Maximo, Microsoft 365, and Adobe Acrobat. Proficiency communicating findings, defect prioritization, and remediation recommendations for integration into WMATA's capital planning.

Preferred Qualifications AutoCAD drawing experience. Master's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or architecture.
