Job description

Overview
The Tradesman II performs skilled carpentry and construction trades work to include fabrication, painting, upholstery and repair tasks under limited supervision from the Construction Services Supervisor and with guidance from Tradesman III.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
  • Designs and estimates carpentry projects.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
  • Build, repair and install cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.
  • Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Bore bolt holes in timber, masonry or concrete using power drill.
  • Install rough door and window frames, subflooring, fixtures, or temporary supports in structures undergoing construction or repair.
  • Maintains and repairs woodworking equipment.
  • Engraves lettering in wood or plastic signs.
  • Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for paint.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  • Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
  • Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
  • Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  • Ability to repair or apply all texture using applicable materials and equipment.
  • Erect scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew inhibitor.
  • Assists with Fabrication projects as assigned.
  • Assists with Upholstery projects as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum education, training, and previous work experience required to perform this job:
  • Experience in the maintenance carpentry/construction trades field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Required to perform this job:
  • Able to obtain & maintain a Jackson Rancheria Gaming License
  • Class C driver license required - Must be vehicle insurable through Jackson Rancheria's Agent
  • Operator's certifications for aerial lifts and powered industrial lift trucks must be obtained at next available onsite class (A California Driver's License is required to complete the mandatory department equipment training).

Pay range: $28.00 - $36.40 per hour
*Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.
This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state-of-the-art air filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment.
