Leidos' Defense Systems, Weapon Sensors Division, is seeking a talented engineering manager to lead our Test Instrumentation and Lethal Mechanisms portfolio.

The Test Instrumentation and Lethal Mechanisms portfolio specializes in the development and production of flight data acquisition, telemetry, and electronic fuzing products for DoW and Aerospace customers. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for (1) influencing program team personnel to exceed expectations in their roles, (2) overseeing the portfolio's programs to ensure delivery of products and proposals on time, (3) delivering on mission solutions to our customers and financial commitments to the business (4) identifying business bottlenecks to improve manufacturing and overall execution efficiencies. The Portfolio Manager is a member of the Weapon Sensors Division and Defense Sensors Business Area leadership teams and will provide guidance and leadership to program staff as well as reporting status to Division and Business Area leadership. Due to the fast pace of operations, this portfolio manager must demonstrate poise while balancing several leadership disciplines and addressing urgent requests from leadership and customers.

Growth in the portfolio demands that the portfolio manager help drive successful coordination, communication, and accountability between the electronics manufacturing facility and program teams. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one and group meetings with the program teams to check status, provide guidance, and work through any issues to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Interface with customers to develop relationships, ensure the highest quality of service, and drive future business opportunities.
  • Provide business expertise to proposals, ensuring that submissions align with mission, financial, and Division strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (engineering, finance, contracts, growth, supply chain) to ensure alignment and timely execution of program goals.
  • Provide solutions to any identified deficiencies within the planning and execution of the portfolio.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team efficiency, quality, and overall program execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, business, or an equivalent degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years or prior relevant experience. Generally has 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Experience building strategic relationships with internal and external customers while collaborating with company / industry leaders to gather cutting edge solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading development or production teams to develop hardware / software solutions.
  • Twelve or more years of experience in leading cross disciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and customers to deliver hardware / software solutions.
  • Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance. (U.S. citizenship is required)
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly organized and responsive, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively due to a fast-paced and highly productive work environment.
  • A background in electrical engineering to provide additional insight with respect to technical challenges.
  • Active and current DoD Secret clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $154,050.00 - $278,475.00
