Job description

At OTC, being an Electrical Technician Lead means more than troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems—it's about leading by example, mentoring fellow technicians, and helping deliver safe, high-quality work for our customers. Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $34.00-$48.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support a team of electrical technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and technical expertise on daily work activities.
  • Coordinate job assignments and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment, including substations, power distribution systems, switchgear, motors, motor control systems, process controls, instrumentation, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Diagnose complex electrical issues and provide technical direction to resolve equipment and system failures.
  • Assist with planning field work, identifying material and labor needs, and communicating project progress with supervisors and customers.
  • Review completed work to ensure quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations are met.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Mentor and train less experienced technicians, supporting their technical development and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, and repairs.
  • Foster a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

What You'll Need

  • High School diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 5+ years of industrial electrical experience with demonstrated leadership or lead technician experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, motor controls, power distribution, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, prioritize work, and mentor technicians while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Must have the minimum personal tools outlined by the department tool list (or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire).
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing, mining, or industrial environments with exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, electrical hazards, fumes, airborne particles, and other industrial conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated platforms, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled or emergency overtime as business needs require.
