Job description

General Description Umpires cover adult recreation softball leagues Spring - Fall. Leagues are held in the evenings at Legion and/or VFW Parks. Umpires prepare fields prior to games, umpire games, maintain clean, safe environment, and submit scorecards at the end of each night.

Rate of Pay: $41.00 - $43.00/game Work Schedule: Typical shifts are 5:45 - 10:00pm, depending on league and number of games Summer Leagues (May - August) Tuesday Evenings: Co-Ed Slow-Pitch at Legion Thursday Evenings: Men's 12" Slow-Pitch at VFW Men's 14" 35+ Slow-Pitch at Legion Fall League (Aug/Sept - October) Tuesday Evenings Men's 14" Slow Pitch at Legion Essential Functions Prep/chalk fields prior to game Maintain control of game by following league rules/policies Make calls for each play (safe/out, ball/strike) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of USA softball rules is required Prior experience umpiring softball and/or baseball games preferred. Ability to walk, stand, and move for long periods of time Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements At least 16 years of age Experience umpiring softball and/or baseball games Preferred athletic experience as a JV or higher competition level in baseball/softball Position requires active movement throughout evening, for up to 5 games per night.
