Job Title: Legal Analyst I
FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting in the completion of routine legal department projects as assigned for the benefit of internal and external customers. Interact with company personnel on various legal or risk management issues, and assists in the development and communication of risk management information to external customers as directed. Effectively and efficiently analyze and resolve routine day-to-day matters as assigned in a manner consistent with company objectives.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively and efficiently undertake legal projects as assigned (including, but not limited to, routine insurance coverage analysis, document analysis, regulatory analysis, company publication assistance, and review of contracts, manuals, and policies), for the benefit of the company, other departments within the company, and external customers.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and monitor legal department reports, corporate and regulatory filings.
  • Promptly respond to agent, policyholder, and regulator inquiries as assigned.
  • Research and apply policy language, statutes, common law, and other applicable legal and risk management concepts in order to effectively and efficiently accomplish routine projects.
  • Assist in responding to LegalAssist inquiries as needed.
  • Assist with the development and communication of legal information to internal and external customers.
  • Provide timely status reports concerning assigned projects to legal department management and to others as appropriate.
  • Participate in and provide input at meetings involving collective decision-making, and contributing as requested to departmental or interdepartmental projects or processes.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education and/or Experience

  • An Associate's degree is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience (full-time or part-time work as paralegal, claims adjuster, or legal, business, or process analyst) required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is desired.
  • Insurance-related studies, studies involving technical legal writing, and/or paralegal studies is desired.
  • Prior experience in contract drafting, corporate law, or other legal document preparation is desired.
