Position Summary
The Plant Operations and Admin Lead oversees, ensures, and performs safe and efficient operations for loading, shipping, and ticketing of ash products as well as disposal when needed at the Power Plant. Communicates daily with appropriate NPPD plant personal, NEBCO office personal and supervisor as needed for instruction. Lead will need to fill in where needed and actively be involved to ensure tasks are completed. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Must be able to work normal day hours, generally between 6 am to 6 pm, averaging 40 to 50 hours a week; occasional Saturday or Sunday work may be required; hours may vary based on daily loading or disposal requirements. The position will be located at a power plant which requires the applicant to pass a background check plus a pre-employment physical with drug testing and back screening.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervises plant personnel; provides guidance, and training as needed including responsibilities of Plant Operations Maintenance Lead as needed.
Discusses and Informs Plant Operations and Maintenance Lead, and other personnel as needed, of potential problems, status and timeline of projects, assures work is completed timely and safely, and supports other departments according to needs as directed.
Informs General Manager of issues concerning SAFETY, ASH SUPPLIES and NPPD issues promptly.
Identifies and plans daily operations, delegates work to appropriate personnel and performs tasks as needed with Operations and Maintenance Leed.
Operates front end loaders, motor graders and semi-trucks and car movers inside the NPPD plant area as needed in a safe manner.
Loads Fly ash & Bottom ash into market trucks &/or rail cars.
Assures appropriate tickets are written properly for orders according to requirements.
Ensures the shop & equipment is maintained according to safety standards.
Ensures the shop, office, restroom, scale rooms and equipment are clean on a regular basis.
Provides Safety Training including documentation for all Plant Operations as needed.
Communicates with NEBCO staff, and others on customer tickets for invoicing including the bill of ladings for trucking and for rail, such as BNSF.
Works with NEBCO Corporate teams as needed to ensure proper orientation, onboarding, and training of personnel.
Assists payroll and accounting by completing weekly employee timecards and sending organized invoices to office with purpose identified.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
  • 1 year previous experience in a role that provides leadership in addition to operation of construction machinery or equipment-front end loader, motor grader and a semi-tractor in a construction &/or construction products related field; or
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Valid Driver's License and be insurable under the company insurance program.

Qualifications:
  • Must have basic equipment maintenance and repair experience.
  • Ability to oversee and train other personnel.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents related to the job, such as scale tickets, SDS sheets, equipment manuals and the company safety manual.
  • Must understand basic numbers and math to count inventory or complete orders based on order tickets.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Basic computer skills are required.

  • Must be able to work independently and have a good sense of detail to work and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to delegate tasks to others and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to take and understand work direction.
