J Carpenter Environmental, LLC (JCE) is a nation-wide materials and equipment supplier and technical expert for environmental products. JCE sells products and equipment that are used by manufacturers and contractors for construction, waste treatment, pollution control, manufacturing, remediation, civil, and environmental applications and projects. JCE sells top performing products from the most reliable, well-established, and trusted manufacturers. JCE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Carpenter Brothers, Inc. (CBI), one of the largest distributors of foundry and industrial supplies and equipment in the United States. CBI was founded in 1917 as a foundry supply company and has expanded over the years into products and equipment for the die casting, environmental, blast cleaning, and surface finishing industries. CBI is known for providing in-depth technical support to its clients through its sales engineering field staff.

Position Summary:

Maintain and grow product and equipment sales and business relationships with environmental consultants, remediation, civil, and geo-technical contractors, and heavy industry manufacturers throughout the US. This will include in-person and virtual sales calls and conferences, preparing sales/marketing plans, evaluating market potential for new and existing products, and managing key customer and supplier accounts and projects.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Grow sales and profits from key accounts by successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Service existing customers and projects to ensure Company products and equipment are performing well and meeting customer requirements. Develop an existing account maintenance strategy to ensure long-term customer satisfaction and profitability. Perform periodic account reviews with customers.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of how Company products and equipment perform, their features and benefits, the productivity or regulatory context of customers’ motivation to use them, and the products and equipment they compete against.
  • Find new customers and projects that need Company products and equipment using prior relationships and marketing techniques such as media, email, internet searches, phone prospecting, and face-to-face sales calls, participation in trade groups, attendance at conferences, and trade shows.
  • Qualify potential customers by determining if Company products meet the technical and performance requirements of customers by understanding their motivation to buy, the current problems they seek to remedy, and ensuring customers have resources and credit to quality as a customer.
  • Help prepare product and equipment cost estimates and quotations, write proposals, and make sales presentations. Work with inside sales staff to ensure customers get what they need.
  • Document sales calls and account maintenance activity in Company’s customer information program (CRM).
  • Evaluate market potential for new and existing products and prepare market analysis for key suppliers.
  • Issue periodic activity reports. Prepare sales and expense budgets. Participate in company sales meetings.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining customer relationships, obtaining new business, and project management in the environmental field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, state and federal regulatory agencies and manufacturing and remediation compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work and act independently and without frequent supervision. Requires business and overnight travel.
Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or Business related field.
  • 5-10 years experience in consulting, engineering or environmental remediation or compliance fields.
