Job description

About Quast Media

Quast Media is a digital signage, commercial AV, interactive technology, and video production company serving healthcare, museums, corporate, and other commercial clients. We install, manage, and support digital signage networks, commercial displays, LED video walls, projection systems, interactive kiosks, and related technologies.

We are looking for a dependable and technically capable AV & Digital Signage Field Technician to join our Connecticut team.

Position Overview

The AV & Digital Signage Field Technician will perform onsite installations, preventive maintenance, system audits, troubleshooting, and repairs at client locations throughout Connecticut.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems and working with commercial displays, digital signage players, networks, cabling, projectors, LED video walls, and related AV equipment.

Training on Quast Media’s specific systems and processes will be provided. However, candidates should have enough relevant technical experience to begin contributing quickly and work independently following an initial training period.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, and service commercial displays and digital signage systems
  • Install and configure digital signage media players
  • Mount displays, LED panels, projectors, kiosks, and related AV equipment
  • Assist with LED video-wall installations and service
  • Troubleshoot displays, media players, cabling, power, networking, and video signals
  • Diagnose and resolve HDMI, connectivity, and equipment-related issues
  • Perform preventive-maintenance visits and system audits
  • Replace defective displays, players, cables, mounts, and other components
  • Configure basic wired and wireless network connections
  • Prepare, configure, and test equipment before installation
  • Maintain accurate records of service visits, equipment, serial numbers, and completed work
  • Photograph and document installations and repairs
  • Communicate professionally with clients and Quast Media’s project team
  • Keep the company van, tools, and equipment clean and organized
  • Follow jobsite safety requirements and company procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Relevant hands-on experience in commercial AV, digital signage, IT field service, low-voltage installation, electronics, or a related technical field
  • Basic understanding of commercial displays, media players, cabling, and networking
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic testing equipment
  • Ability to follow technical drawings, installation plans, and written instructions
  • Comfortable using computers, smartphones, email, and web-based service platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to manage a daily field schedule
  • Professional appearance and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently at client locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial AV installation or service experience
  • Digital signage installation or support experience
  • Low-voltage cabling experience
  • Basic networking and IT troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with commercial displays, projectors, LED video walls, interactive kiosks, or media players
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist certification
  • Experience working in healthcare, museums, corporate, or other professional facilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing approximately 50–75 pounds, with assistance when appropriate
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to load and unload equipment from a company vehicle
  • Ability to spend portions of the workday driving between client locations

Schedule and Travel

  • 40 hours per week
  • Position based at Quast Media’s Manchester, Connecticut location
  • Daily travel to client locations throughout Connecticut
  • Company van provided for authorized business travel
  • Most work is performed during normal weekday business hours
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required
  • No regular overnight or out-of-state travel is anticipated

Compensation and Benefits

  • $26–$32 per hour, based on relevant experience, technical capabilities, and certifications
  • Paid time off for eligible employees
  • 401(k) participation subject to plan eligibility requirements
  • Healthcare reimbursement plan for eligible employees
  • Company-provided tools and equipment as applicable
  • Training on Quast Media’s platforms and service procedures

The Right Person for This Position

The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work and does not require constant supervision. They know how to investigate a technical problem, communicate when assistance is needed, and follow through until the issue is resolved.

We are especially interested in candidates who are:

  • Reliable and consistently on time
  • Resourceful and calm when troubleshooting
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Careful with equipment and client facilities
  • Thorough about testing and documenting their work
  • Willing to learn unfamiliar systems
  • Able to balance efficiency with high-quality workmanship
