The College of Science and Mathematics at Augusta University invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry which is anticipated to begin in August 2026. Applicant must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in a discipline of Chemistry or Biochemistry and have the expertise to teach courses such as General Chemistry, General Chemistry Lab, Organic Chemistry and/ or a Survey course in Chemistry. Prior experience teaching at the college level is preferred. The normal teaching load for this position will be approximately seven courses per academic year, and applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduates. This position is not on tenure track.
Responsibilities
Teaching -90%
Teaching & Coordinating Chemistry courses as assigned.
Service on Committees -10%
Perform service on committees and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Master's degree in a field of Chemistry and Biochemistry with at least 18 credit hours in Chemistry and Chemistry related courses (organic, analytical, inorganic, physical, pharmacology, toxicology, and biochemistry).
Required Experience
Experience teaching chemistry at the undergraduate level and coordinating courses and instructional laboratories. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements), and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry at the undergraduate/college level.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
