JOB TITLE: ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE (APRN) PSYCH

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL DEPARTMENT

LOCATION (S): CARSON CITY, DAYTON, ELKO, AND RENO

SUPERVISOR: PROGRAM COORDINATOR /CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY:

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) position is responsible for setting appointments for required consumer physical examinations, developing a diagnosis, documenting the medical history, recording the physical as well as physical findings. Dispenses medications as prescribed and conduct sick call screening of consumers in treatment. Administers and reads TB tests on new employees, consumers, reads and informs employees of TB tests results. Additionally, they will identify and develop health and medical information crucial to the recovery process of consumers in treatment. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the Program Coordinator.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screens and assesses medical status of all new consumers entering program.
  • Reviews completed consumer medical histories.
  • Checks consumers medications brought into facility and related information to physicians.
  • Responsible for supervising blood pressure, pulse, and temperature on any consumers, as necessary.
  • Responsible for charting all readings in individual files.
  • Follows Doctor's orders on how to dispense consumer medications, updates records.
  • Sets appointments for consumers physical examinations.
  • Provides preliminary screening for sick calls.
  • Provides medical crisis screening.
  • Ability to prescribe.
  • Routinely checks consumer files for appropriate medical documentation.
  • Conducts health and medical lecture groups for adolescent and adult consumers.
  • CPR certified.
  • Required to be present with doctors’ exams & interviews.
  • Documentation and scheduling in electronic health record.
  • Provides services ranging from primary and preventative care to mental health.
  • Be available to be On-call, as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must have general medical knowledge to assist the provider (physician or advanced practice nurse) in obtaining pre-screening information from consumers for required physical examinations. 
  • Will dispense medications as prescribed following provider’s orders and will record as appropriate.
  • Must be skilled in giving IM injections.
  • Must have knowledge of and adhere to federal confidentiality regulations governing disclosure of consumer information. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must provide licensure/certification at time of employment.
  • A valid Nevada Driver License and proof of insurance.
  • Must have the ability to be self-motivated and perform independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal with people in distress. 
  • The ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners from other disciplines.
  • Able to adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies; and capable of using electronic health records.

EDUCATION:

  • Must possess a master’s degree in nursing that includes training in a chosen clinical specialty.
