Leave Specialist (Contract)

Location: Downers Grove, IL 60515 (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25.07-$26.01/hour
Duration: 5-6 Month Contract with Strong Potential for Permanent Hire

Position Overview

SkySource Solutions is seeking an experienced Leave Specialist to provide day-to-day operational support for U.S. leave of absence programs. This individual will serve as a key resource for employees, managers, HR partners, payroll teams, and third-party vendors while helping ensure accurate administration of leave programs and a positive employee experience.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience managing leave cases, supporting employees through the leave process, coordinating with disability vendors, and maintaining accurate leave documentation in HR systems.

Must-Have Qualifications

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:

  • Minimum 3 years of leave management, absence management, or HR administration experience
  • Experience administering and supporting U.S. leave programs including:
  • FMLA
  • ADA
  • Short-Term Disability (STD)
  • Long-Term Disability (LTD)
  • Parental Leave
  • Maternity/Bonding Leave
  • Personal and Unpaid Leaves
  • Experience working directly with third-party leave and disability vendors
  • Experience supporting employees and managers in a high-volume HR, Benefits, or Shared Services environment
  • Experience maintaining leave records and handling confidential employee information
  • Experience managing multiple leave cases, tickets, inquiries, and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using:
  • HRIS systems
  • Leave administration platforms
  • Case management systems
  • Timekeeping systems
  • Ability to identify and appropriately escalate complex, compliance-sensitive, or high-risk leave situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting leave programs across multiple U.S. states
  • HR Shared Services experience
  • Experience with vendor-administered disability and leave programs
  • Experience creating SOPs, documentation, templates, FAQs, or knowledge articles
  • SHRM, CEBS, CBP, or related HR certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, military, parental, maternity, bonding, and personal leaves
  • Serve as the primary contact for routine leave inquiries from employees and managers
  • Manage leave-related shared mailboxes and HR service tickets
  • Coordinate communications among employees, managers, HR, payroll, and leave vendors
  • Review and maintain leave documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Track leave statuses, return-to-work dates, and related records
  • Liaise with third-party leave and disability vendors
  • Update HRIS, timekeeping, and leave management systems
  • Generate reports, support audits, and maintain leave administration metrics
  • Escalate complex cases to appropriate HR leadership
