Job description

Job Title: Training Coordinator

Department: Training

Reports To: Learning and Development Lead

Exemption Status (FLSA): Exempt/Full-Time


Job Summary: The Training Coordinator is responsible for delivering engaging and effective training programs to store-level employees and management. Spending the majority of time in the field, this role supports operations by training, reinforcing corporate policies and procedures, and driving operational excellence through consistent practices. The Training Coordinator will also provide feedback from the field to enhance training content and support the development of future curriculum.


Essential Functions:

  • Conduct in-person, field-based training for store managers, assistant managers, and other store employees, ensuring a hands-on and interactive learning experience.
  • Lead classroom-style and on-the-job training sessions in an engaging and professional manner.
  • Assist in certifications of members of management upon successful completion of required training programs.
  • Assist in refining training materials by providing feedback to the Learning and Development Lead based on field observations.
  • Recommend improvements to training programs to better align with operational challenges and business needs.
  • Select, prepare, or utilize teaching aids such as training manuals, handouts, visual aids, and digital learning tools to enhance comprehension and retention.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to schedule and prioritize training visits based on store performance and staffing needs.
  • Monitor and report on trainee progress, training completion, and certification status.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback to employees and managers during field visits.


Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driverโ€™s license.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, as training schedules require.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.


Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelorโ€™s degree preferred.
  • 1โ€“3 years of training, coaching, or operational leadership experience in retail, hospitality, or similar customer-facing industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; previous Point of Sale (POS) system experience preferred


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and facilitate training for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of training materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone, including presenting information and responding to questions.
  • Ability to read, write, and use computers, tablets, POS equipment, and other training technology as required.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and travel between work locations.


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in office, hotel, classroom, and other training environments, occasionally retail store locations.
  • Frequent interaction with employees, managers, customers, and other members of the public.
  • Work may involve varying noise levels, temperatures, lighting, and other conditions typical of retail environments.


Required Travel:

  • This position is approximately 70โ€“90% field-based with occasional travel to True North store locations.
  • Overnight travel is expected approximately 40โ€“50% of the time, depending on business and training needs.
