Job description

Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Preschool Intervention Specialistย at Clark Early Learning Centerย for the 2026-2027ย school year.ย  We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio.ย  The Springfield City School District values the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of our student body, faculty and staff.ย  Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunity, including a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, which is a digital learning lab offering students activities such as 3-D printing, graphic design, and videography.ย  Clark Early Learning Center is a 5-Star rated preschool that serves roughly 350 students, ages three through five. We are Wildcats!ย 

As a Teacherย you are required to:

  • Have current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education with certification to teach Preschool students in a Specialist Learning Classroom (SLC) unit.
  • Be in possession of or in the process of applying for The Reading Endorsement or have passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
  • Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate inย professional development sessions
  • Be willing to serve on teams that require constant collaboration
  • Have the ability to relate to and teachย students with diverse backgrounds
  • Have the ability to teach students with special needs and English Language Learners
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role.

As aย Teacherย you will:

  • Developย lesson plans and instructional materials, and provideย individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student in your classroom.
  • Manageย an organized and professional classroom that is conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
  • Fosterย a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encourageย parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities.
  • Actively engage withย at-risk students in the learning process; planning and using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of ALL students including those with special needs and English Language Learners.
  • Recognizeย the needs of individual students and the entire group and offerย support and flexibility as needed.
  • Workย as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District.
  • Utilizeย technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Lead two half day session per day for up to 8 students per session.
  • Support and remain patient with preschool students as they learn social-emotional skills.
  • Participateย in professional development activities that are aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content and the varied needs of students.
  • Remain flexible, willing to compromise, and maintain a solution-focused mindset at all times.
  • Be enthusiastic about your work and spread joy to your students, colleagues, and families whenever possible.ย 

What We Offer:

As a contracted employee, Preschool Intervention Specialistย workย 183ย days per year and 7.25ย hours per day.

Starting salaryย is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases withย experience and education.ย

The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement. ย While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement as to pay and benefits that are in place for the 2025-26ย school year.
