Job description

Austin Preparatory School seeks a collaborative, student-centered Teaching and Learning Specialist to join the Richard J. Meelia '67 Center for Integrated Learning. Reporting to the Director of the Integrated Learning, this position supports students with documented learning differences by ensuring accommodations are effectively implemented while partnering with faculty and families to promote student success. The successful candidate will embrace and advance the mission of Austin Prep while supporting its Roman Catholic identity and Augustinian heritage.

The Teaching and Learning Specialist manages a caseload of students with documented learning differences by reviewing educational evaluations, developing accommodation plans, and ensuring accommodations are consistently implemented. The role collaborates closely with teachers, advisors, students, and families, while providing faculty with professional development in best practices, differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and student-centered teaching.

In addition, the specialist oversees student support programs within the Center, including executive functioning coaching and small groups, coordinates testing accommodations for school and standardized assessments, contributes to parent education initiatives, participates in Student Success meetings, and remains current on research and best practices in learning support.

Qualified candidates will possess: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working with students in a school setting. 
  • Certification or advanced training in structured literacy programs (i.e., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson) preferred.
  • Experience developing individualized learning plans, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency with Apple technology, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace are required.
