Job description

Sonoran Science Academy Phoenix is a STEM-focused public charter school providing a rigorous, college-prep education through a challenging curriculum and continuous assessment. SSA has an opening for a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. We are committed to nurturing a school community where students are inspired and staff are encouraged to grow professionally and collaborate. We are looking for dedicated staff who are passionate about student learning and have the ability to impact the whole child.

 

Your Role Will Include

  • Assisting individual students in performing activities initiated by the teacher, including helping students get started and supporting organizational needs.
  • Providing instructional support for small groups or individuals while the teacher works with other students.
  • Delivering interventions and tutoring as directed by the supervising teacher.
  • Assisting the ESS teacher and administrators in observing, recording, and charting student behavior.
  • Supporting teachers with crisis situations and behavior management.
  • Carrying out instructional programs designed by the teacher.

Qualifications

  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One of the following: 

Associate’s degree or higher; 

Completed 60 or more college credit hours (100-level coursework and above); 

or a passing score on an ADE-approved assessment (ETS Paraprofessional Assessment, ACT WorkKeys, or Master Teacher’s ParaEducator Learning Network).
 

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour.
