Location: Houston, Texas (Partial Remote- onsite 4 days a week in Houston)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support a critical network monitoring transformation initiative. This mid-level role will focus on the implementation, configuration, and optimization of LogicMonitor as the primary monitoring platform while supporting a transition from a legacy system. The position is central to ensuring network stability, visibility, and performance across a mission-critical environment that includes fiber and microwave network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, implement, and support LogicMonitor for enterprise network monitoring.
  • Perform MIB and OID translations to enable accurate alerting and device visibility.
  • Import vendor MIBs and translate device logs into actionable monitoring logic.
  • Develop and maintain alerts, rules, and monitoring logic across network devices.
  • Perform alert validation and matching across parallel monitoring systems.
  • Create and manage sites and devices within the monitoring platform.
  • Manage incidents and tickets, integrated with ServiceNow.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and verification of alerts and monitoring accuracy.
  • Support cross-functional teams, including substation operations, security, and network services.
  • Provide status updates and progress reporting to leadership.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3-4 years of experience supporting network monitoring environments in an enterprise setting.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure, MIBs, OIDs, and SNMP-based monitoring.
  • Experience creating and managing alerts, monitoring rules, and device configurations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and validate monitoring accuracy and alerting logic.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to report progress to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with LogicMonitor.
  • Experience with ServiceNow integration or other ITSM tools.
  • A background in telecom or network engineering environments.
  • Experience working with parallel systems or during platform migrations.
Work Environment
This is a contract position with the potential for extension and conversion to a full-time role. The work schedule is hybrid, requiring on-site presence Monday through Thursday(2 different Houston locations), with Fridays designated for remote work. This role requires the ability to work on a W-2 basis.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $35.00 and $42.00 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
