Job description

Overview

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Learning Experience Partner at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The primary purpose of this role is to design and develop engaging, highly impactful learning solutions that align with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. This individual collaborates effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess training needs, translate complex information into clear and concise learning objectives, and design effective learning assets. This role also requires strong project management and communication skills to support learning initiatives. 


Responsibilities

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE, SAM, and ROPES, to design learner-centered content that optimizes knowledge transfer and skill application.
  • Design and develop instructional materials, including courses, curriculum, facilitator guides, learner guides, training manuals, e-Learning modules, instructor-led training, virtual learning, and blended learning solutions.
  • Create visual, audio, multimedia, and interactive learning assets using authoring tools, learning technologies, and learning management systems.
  • Define, document, and align clear learning objectives to business needs, learner requirements, and desired performance outcomes.
  • Conduct needs assessments, research, and stakeholder analysis as needed to identify learning gaps, define learner needs, and inform instructional priorities.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to research content, validate accuracy, and ensure instructional materials are relevant and actionable.
  • Redesign, revise, and continuously improve existing content to ensure it aligns with learner needs, business priorities, accessibility expectations, and instructional best practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions, analyze learner feedback and outcomes, and recommend improvements to enhance impact.
  • Complete assigned learning initiatives from start to finish, including timelines, resources, technology, communications, and project execution with minimal direction.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of operating policies and procedures, and PenFed’s products and services.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and communicate with professionalism externally and internally.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ work experience, including at least two (2) years of instructional design experience, required.
  • Graphic design knowledge and creativity required, with the ability to design visually engaging learning materials and learner supports.
  • Fundamental understanding of HTML and web-based authoring or design skills required.
  • Proficiency with Articulate 360 suite, Canva, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Cloud is required.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and applications in learning design required, including the ability to use AI responsibly to support content development, learning asset creation, research, and process efficiency.
  • Audio and video editing skills are preferred, with the ability to create or enhance multimedia learning assets.
  • Training, teaching, and presentation skills required, along with strong oral and written communication skills and enthusiasm for learning.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications

There are no additional certifications required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on call may be required.

Pay Transparency 
The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $60,000.00 - $114,672.00
This position is eligible for an organizational performance based annual bonus, subject to board discretion and approval.
This position is eligible for an individual performance based annual bonus.
