The opportunity

This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a direct impact on how a small, high-performing consultancy wins work.

Based in our Burnaby office - just steps from the Gilmore SkyTrain station - this position offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement.

If you're organized, curious about how firms grow, and energized by working across people, tools, and deadlines, we want to hear from you.

Who we are

BKL Consultants is Western Canada's leading acoustical consultancy. Since 1966, we've provided expert advice on acoustics, noise, and vibration to architects, builders, consultants, developers, facility owners, and governments. Our 30-person team includes engineers, scientists, and administrative staff who collaborate on projects across the region.

We're a successful small business with a friendly work environment and excellent opportunities for career advancement. As BD Coordinator, you'll be at the centre of our growth efforts, helping connect the right opportunities with the right people.

What you'll do

As BD Coordinator, you'll manage and grow the firm's pursuit pipeline while supporting client outreach and relationship development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor bid sites and procurement platforms for relevant opportunities; review RFPs and project descriptions to assess fit for BKL's service areas and geographic focus.
  • Manage and maintain the lead intake side of the CRM, ensuring new opportunities are logged, categorized, and qualified; track win/loss outcomes and maintain basic BD metrics to support pipeline reporting.
  • Prepare opportunity summaries for internal review, including project scope, timeline, submission requirements, and key decision criteria.
  • Use social selling and prospecting tools to identify, track, and research prospective clients, decision-makers, and project owners relevant to BKL's target markets.
  • Draft client outreach communications on behalf of business development team for their review and send; prepare talking points and relevant background for client meetings.
  • Coordinate lunch and learn presentations with target firms: identify appropriate contacts, handle scheduling and logistics, assist with presentation preparation, and follow up with attendees afterward.
  • Support relationship-building efforts by tracking client touchpoints, maintaining contact databases, and flagging follow-up opportunities.
  • Monitor industry news, project announcements, and market trends; research prospective clients and competitors to inform pursuit decisions and go/no-go discussions.

What you'll bring to the job

You have strong communication skills and a professional attitude with a willingness to manage multiple priorities at once. You have a positive outlook and require minimal supervision. You manage your time, prioritize tasks, and motivate yourself. You meet deadlines with high-quality, thorough work. We are looking for someone we can work alongside that we can count on.

Plus, you need the following

  • A diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new software (CRM systems, project management tools)
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction
  • Experience in a sales, business development, client services, or administration coordination role (including co-op or internship experience) is an asset
  • Experience in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) or professional services industry is an asset
  • Familiarity with public procurement processes and bid platforms (BC Bid, MERX, Bonfire) is an asset
  • Experience with prospecting tools and online research methods for client identification is an asset

What we offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with authorized overtime paid at time-and-a-half
  • Benefits package including health coverage, paid vacation, and RRSP contribution matching program
  • A collaborative, respectful team environment where your voice is heard
  • Flexible work arrangements and a culture that values work-life balance
  • A centrally-located, modern office across the street from SkyTrain
  • Paid professional development opportunities
