Job description

The Senior Buyer / Supervisor position will be responsible for negotiating and buying Facia and Trim components in support of the Exterior Purchasing organization. The duties include management of the sourcing process, developing and implementing creative solutions to complex challenges, capacity and cost management, and PO/ contract administration. This includes but is not limited to: Selecting suppliers, placing purchase orders, managing complex contracts, interfacing with internal and external customers, managing key Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier relationships, and developing commodity strategies.

The ideal candidate must have: The ability to coordinate activities with other departments and resolve conflicts; must lead a cross functional team with "One Voice" to suppliers; and develop and manage key supplier relationships while maximizing suppliers' ability to deliver quality product on time. Additionally, the candidate will be responsibilities for developing and/or assisting in the development of strategies and solutions to continuously improve costs and capacity. Global understanding of supplier capabilities and Stellantis global commodity strategy development is required and ability to travel will be necessary at times. 

The position has responsibility for coaching and mentoring Buyers on core purchasing responsibilities and will be supporting their development and performance management.    

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor' degree from an accredited university in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or other disciplines that require significant negotiation and/or exposure to sourcing/project management processes
  • Commodity purchasing experience
  • Excellent negotiation skills, strong analytical skills and experience in working in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to resolve conflict situations
  • Proven experience managing and negotiating contracts and have a strong understanding of contract law
  • Effective listener and ability to build relationships in cross functional groups
  • Ability to coach and manage both the buyers and the supply base, and drive timely resolution of open issues
  • Proven ability to manage people and lead teams
  • Ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and earning trust
  • Demonstrated the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Proven leader with the ability to inspire others and build strong relationships
